Business License

#WhyNotWinslow

As many of you know, we have an event coming up next month, called Moonshot Pioneer Pitch. If you have ever had a business plan, or an entrepreneurial thought, and do not know how to bring your idea to reality; this event is for you, and it’s totally FREE for anyone to participate. Be sure to check out the Facebook event page under the same name, for details.

Do you know what else is FREE? Getting your business license. At least in Winslow it is. Having a business license is also mandatory. Should you fall under the umbrella of needing to pay sales tax, which is just about everyone, your license is the best way to ensure you are not overpaying and that you are contributing to your local, regional, and state infrastructure. Things like Libraries, Public Safety, Parks and Senior Centers. All of which are important to the economic vitality of a community.

Our code can be found on WinslowAZ.gov, about halfway down the page, on the right-hand side. Click on “city-code” and then go to Chapter 5.04 “general provisions”. Here you will find details, including this excerpt: 5.04.015 Conducting Business without Registration Pursuant to This Chapter Deemed Unlawful

A. It is unlawful for any person, whether as a principal, agent, clerk or employee, either for himself or for any other person, corporation or otherwise, to commence, carry on or establish any kind of business within the City without first having registered with the City to do so and without complying with any and all regulations of such business contained in this chapter.

Having a detailed list of our businesses also helps with our cities understanding of infrastructure needs, it allows access to contact details in case of an emergency and also provides me with updated information to effectively apply for grant monies, to in turn help you be successful in your endeavors. So, please, go now to www.WhyNotWinslow.com/real-estate where you will find access to available commercial space, permits, licensing and even grants to help your business thrive.
